Stationary vs Mobile Concrete Plants: Key Differences

Concrete batching plants fall into two main categories based on how they are installed: stationary and mobile. Each serves a distinct purpose depending on project duration, location requirements, and output needs.

Stationary plants are built on permanent concrete or steel foundations and typically offer higher production capacities, often exceeding 120 m³/h. They are the standard choice for ready-mix concrete producers, large infrastructure projects, and long-term operations where the investment in a fixed installation pays off over years of continuous use.

Mobile plants, by contrast, are mounted on a chassis or designed as foldable/modular units that can be relocated relatively quickly — often within one to three days. This makes them ideal for shorter projects, road or infrastructure works spread across multiple sites, or contractors who need to move production close to successive job locations.

In terms of capacity, mobile plants generally range from 30 to 100 m³/h, while stationary plants can scale well beyond that. The initial investment for mobile units is typically lower, making them attractive for contractors entering the market or managing tighter budgets.

When deciding between the two, consider project duration, the number of sites you'll serve, required output volume, and total budget. Some manufacturers offer both stationary and mobile models, allowing operators to match the right configuration to each project rather than committing to a single type.
