How to Calculate the Right Batching Plant Capacity

Selecting the correct batching plant capacity is a strategic decision that directly affects both your capital investment and your ability to meet project deadlines.

The first step is estimating total concrete demand in cubic meters against your required delivery timeline. For example, a large tower project requiring 500 m³ of concrete per pour day needs a plant capable of meeting that demand within a reasonable working window — typically six to eight hours.

Commercial ready-mix operators selling to multiple clients should size their plant not just for their own projects but for anticipated market demand in the surrounding area; this typically means capacities in the 90–150 m³/h range.

Small to mid-sized contractors focused primarily on their own projects often find compact plants in the 30–60 m³/h range more cost-effective, offering better flexibility without the overhead of a large-scale facility.

Capacity planning shouldn't stop at the mixer alone — silo count and volume, transit mixer fleet size, aggregate storage area, and electrical infrastructure all need to scale alongside production capacity. Insufficient silo capacity, for instance, can bottleneck output regardless of how large your mixer is.

The most reliable approach is sharing detailed project specifications with manufacturers and requesting a tailored capacity analysis rather than relying on general rules of thumb.
